“Today marks the tenth anniversary since the Regina of the ghost lands was imprisoned for treason against the emperor. It is such a shame our Regina betrayed the Emperor by noting keep up her bargin with the Emperor and drafting more citizen for testing.” Ezio watched the news, and opened a beer. He downed it has the memories came back to him from that night ten years ago when Xavier the heir to the throne was thrust into his life. Why am I protecting this child? He thought has he sighed, I own her nothing even through she did spare me and Delia that night he heard footsteps and the front door open to the small house. “I am home, Ezio.” Ezio looked at the door to see Xavier, his messy dark brown hair was pulled back in a small pony tail, he looked nothing like his mother expect his eyes they were the same.
“Good, Xerxes.” The young man smiled has he lifted up the small backpack. “I got some stuff from the trading post near the docks. I got some stuff to help you out Ezio, you said you needed more screws and bolts right?” Ezio nodded his head has Xerxes smiled. If any Xavier knew he was heir to the throne he thought has he remembered how he changed Xavier’s name and forged documents to keep him hidden. “Thank you.” Ezio got up has he looked at the backpack has Xerxes emptied it out has there were nuts, bolts, and wired upon the small creaky wooden table. “I think it is time you know the truth Xerxes.” Xerxes looked at Ezio, “Finally?” Xerxes asked has Ezio nodded his head. “I did promise I would tell you when you are older, and now Xerxes you are sixteen. I think you are old enough to handle the truth, come with me into the study.” Ezio felt guilt has he unlocked the door to his study. “What is this?” Xerxes asked has he saw the spiral symbol of the outsiders on the walls and posters saying beware the doll plague.
“Ezio?” Xerxes said has he saw Ezio opening a large chest that was against the wall. “These are from your mother.” Ezio held a stack of letters that were held together by a rubber band. “My mother?” Xerxes asked has he dusted the letters off to see the wax seal of the Emperor. “I thought I was adopted Ezio…” Xerxes voice trailed off has he pulled one letter out from the stack. “Everything I have done was to protect you, Xerxes. Your name is Xavier Fey.” Xerxes looked at Ezio, “That can’t be true, Ezio stop joking this isn’t funny.” Xerxes looked at Ezio to see he was not laughing or joking. “You are serious?” Ezio nodded his head and pointed at the stack of letters. “Read them, they will tell you the truth. Your mother has been writing to you since she was imprisoned.” Xerxes opened a letter and read it

Dear, Xavier
Happy birthday, I am sorry I haven’t been around. The emperor has imprisoned me because I would not do what he said. I know it must be hard not having me around. My little boy, I hope Ezio is doing a good job protecting you, I wish things were not like this but it was the best I could do in such a short time. Listen to Ezio he is after all your cousin and I trust him even though he did try to kill me once. Please stay hidden from the emperor if he knows you exist and are alive he will do everything in his power to hunt you down. I will not let that happen, I know I am a traitor in the eyes of the emperor but I was doing what was right for my country, the ghost lands. Ah, my child I hope one day we can meet again…hopefully before this cursed plague kills me. I hope you can forgive me…
Love, Regina Tressa Fey
“My mother was the Regina of the ghost lands? This is crazy.” Xerxes said has Ezio pulled out his gear, “Not everything is what it seems Xavier.” He pulled out a necklace and gave it to Xerxes. “Your mother sent this last month, she said it would help you control your powers.” Xerxes looked at the pendant as he held it in his hands. “I have powers?” Ezio nodded his head has Xerxes put the pendant on and could smell a faint perfume, it smelled like raspberries.
“You are lucky you were not killed you broad.” A guard yelled has Tressa sat in her cell and was writing another letter. “Nothing to say?” A guard said has Tressa blew on her hands. “I hope the doll plague kills you, you traitous snake.” Tressa held her anger in has she fixed her dark green jump suit. “Guards leave.” She hide the letter in her jumpsuit has she looked at the shadow that came down the spiral staircase. “Tressa, do not give me that look.” It was the emperor he was dressed in purples and golds, Tressa bowed a little.  “Have you learned your lesson?” the emperor asked has Tressa smirked. “What lesson I was doing what I had to protect my people.” The emperor grabbed the cell bars, “Don’t play stupid, Tressa. Just because you are the sister of my wife doesn’t protect you I can still have you killed.” Tress put her hair up, she got closer to the cell bars “What do you want me to say, sorry? You were experimenting on my citizens, when we created this empire you promised you would only test on people who were on death row but you had to take it farer and what happened, Jinx? You made the plague worst then what it was already was.” Her voice was sharp, as she glared at him.
“So what if a few thousand people die, Tressa what does that have to do with you?” He asked has she looked away, “I care about my citizens unlike you, you let your citzens fight for food and shelter.” He let out a chuckle, “This empire was born out of chaos, or did you forget how many people you killed? You were once a great caster and look at you now, rotting away is jail.” He said has she growled under her breath. “I thought we were going to create a better society but the only thing you have done is followed in their footsteps!”
